About the Position/Job
The Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA) Programme at Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Discipline role, starting 1 July 2026. The successful candidate will join a globally recognised interdisciplinary programme that trains students to record and interpret first-person narratives through innovative, critical, and creative approaches. Working alongside Dr Amy Starecheski, the Director of OHMA, the Lecturer will pursue independent research, contribute to the Centre for Oral History Research, and support student learning, supervision, and public engagement. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate degree (MA or MFA) in a relevant field
- Proven excellence in teaching at the graduate or advanced undergraduate level
- At least five years of professional experience in oral history research, publication, and curation
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in a related discipline
- Administrative or managerial experience
- Experience with multimedia, digital tools, and public engagement in oral history
Key Responsibilities
- Teach two core courses per semester, including oral history fieldwork, theoretical approaches, and archiving
- Advise and supervise MA thesis projects and student professional development
- Co-direct admissions and recruitment processes
- Manage internships, communications, and public programming
- Contribute to the research and outreach of the Centre for Oral History Research
