About the Position

The Asian Languages & Cultures (ALC) Department at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is inviting applications for a full-time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Malay Language / Linguistics Education. This role supports ALC’s mission to develop research-led teaching and contribute to Singapore’s commitment to mother tongue language education and Asian cultural values. The successful applicant will be involved in preparing and mentoring future Malay language teachers through NIE’s pre-service and in-service training programmes. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics
  • Diploma in Education or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Proven experience in classroom and higher education teaching
  • Research and publication record in relevant education-related fields
  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Malay and English
  • Strong teaching ability at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Familiarity with the Singapore education system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in emerging educational technologies
  • Experience supervising student research and teacher training
  • Administrative service experience
  • (For Senior Lecturer) Capability to mentor junior faculty

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead teaching-related research and publish actively
  • Teach and supervise at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Mentor student teachers during teaching practice
  • Build local and international academic and professional networks
  • Offer services to the Ministry of Education and related bodies
  • Undertake department-level administrative responsibilities
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum innovation
