About Position/Job
The University of Leeds is inviting applications for a Lectureship in Liberal Arts and Religion/Philosophy within the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science. This exciting full-time role offers the opportunity to teach and conduct research across the flagship Liberal Arts programme, with a focus on global or non-Western religions, philosophies, and worldviews, including Africana, Islamic, and South/East Asian traditions.
The successful candidate will contribute to the School’s research centres, such as the Centre for Religion and Public Life or the Centre for Philosophy of Religion and Theology, under the guidance of Professor Adriaan van Klinken, Deputy Head of School. This position allows engagement in interdisciplinary research, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and participation in international academic collaborations, enhancing both teaching and research impact. The role is based at the University’s main campus in Leeds, UK, and offers a stimulating environment with excellent professional development and well-being support.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Philosophy, Religion, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field
- Proven record of high-quality research and publications
- Experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in global or non-Western religions, philosophies, or worldviews
- Experience supervising dissertations and research students
- Engagement with interdisciplinary research centres
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops in Liberal Arts and related programmes
- Supervise undergraduate dissertations, MA students, and research students
- Contribute to research centres within the School and Faculty
- Participate in curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives
- Promote the School’s mission to impact policy, practice, and public life
