About the Position
Leiden University’s Faculty of Archaeology invites applications for a dual-role position: Post-doctoral Researcher and Project Manager. This role is part of the prestigious NWO-VICI project “Hominin FoodWays” led by Prof. A.G. Henry, focusing on agent-based modelling of early hominin migrations into western Eurasia. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related fields by start date
- Experience with agent-based modelling
- Proficiency in English and willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in palaeoanthropology or human evolution
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of open science and public outreach
- EU/International fieldwork readiness and driver’s licence
- Familiarity with research permitting and ethical approval procedures
Key Responsibilities
- Develop agent-based simulations of hominin dispersals
- Manage data protocols, permits, and Open Science practices
- Organise public engagement activities and events
- Lead Work Package 3 of the FoodWays project
- Support research across WP1 and WP2
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Actively participate in academic community events
