About the Position
NORCE Norwegian Research Centre invites applications for a funded Postdoctoral Fellow position in Geosciences / Paleogenomics at the Climate & Environment Division, located in Bergen, Norway. This exciting academic opportunity focuses on Arctic Ocean climate change, marine ecosystems, and Late Quaternary paleogenomics, contributing to international research initiatives in climate science and environmental research. Moreover, the role is part of the ERC Synergy project “Into The Blue,” which investigates past Arctic greenhouse climates.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Molecular Ecology and Paleogenomics group while also conducting independent research using sediment core analysis, DNA extraction, and shotgun metagenomics techniques. In addition, access to advanced laboratory facilities and interdisciplinary collaboration with leading institutions ensures a productive environment for impactful publications and career development.
Applicants must hold a PhD in environmental microbiology, molecular biology, molecular ecology, paleogenomics, or a related discipline. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate strong experience in molecular lab techniques, sequencing, and bioinformatics. Preferred skills include metagenomics analysis, marine paleoecology knowledge, and statistical expertise, alongside excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
This is a full-time, non-tenure-track Postdoctoral position for three years, starting August 2026, offering competitive funding status under Horizon Europe – ERC. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
