About the PhD Position
NTNU invites applications for a Fully Funded PhD in Human Osteoarchaeology within the Department of Archaeology and Cultural History at Trondheim, Norway. This doctoral research project focuses on infant feeding practices and maternal-infant health in historical Norway, contributing to ongoing scholarship in bioarchaeology and osteological research. The position will be supervised by Associate Professor Alison Harris and is affiliated with the NTNU University Museum’s research collections.
The PhD position is funded for three years, with the possibility of a fourth year including career-promoting work, offering an annual gross salary of NOK 550,800 under the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (completed before start)
- Strong academic record (B grade or higher)
- Eligibility for admission to a PhD programme in Historical and Cultural Studies
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous research experience in human osteoarchaeology or biomolecular methods
- University-level courses in biology, biochemistry, or chemistry
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
