Fellowship Overview

Orient-Institut Beirut invites applications for residential Postdoctoral fellowships supporting research in Humanities and Social Sciences beginning in September 2026. This is a Fully Funded Fellowship designed for postdoctoral scholars working on innovative projects related to Middle Eastern societies, history, culture, religion, and politics. The programme welcomes interdisciplinary proposals and encourages researchers to connect historical insight with contemporary academic debates.

Fellows participate in weekly colloquia, research discussions, and scholarly activities organised by the institute. They also present their work and contribute to the institute’s annual academic reporting.

Selected candidates receive a monthly stipend of €1,900 and a €600 travel allowance for international arrivals. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and demonstrate strong English proficiency alongside relevant language skills in Humanities and Social Sciences research.
