About Position/Job

The University of Oxford invites applications for the Senior Research Associate in Biotechnology for Natural Resource Innovation within the Department of Engineering Science and Earth Sciences. This five-year, full-time role is part of Oxford EARTH (Equitable Access to sustainable Resources for a Thriving Habitat), a landmark programme advancing sustainable natural resource use. The postholder will collaborate with leading scholars across disciplines including Geography, Law, Economics, Chemistry, and Materials. Research will span bio-mining, bio-recycling, natural bio-prospecting, bio-process engineering, and synthetic biology applications, with outcomes applied to global resource challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of sustainable biotechnology, contribute to innovative academic research, and collaborate with international experts to shape future resource solutions.

  • Strong publication record and potential for innovative resource-related research

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research within Oxford EARTH

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across multiple departments
  • Contribute to teaching, demonstrations, and student mentorship when required
