About the Program
The University of Innsbruck, Austria, is inviting applications for a PhD position in Experimental Architecture and Design within the Faculty of Architecture. This four-year, part-time role (starting 19 September 2025) is based at the Institute of Experimental Architecture, ./studio3 and combines research with teaching responsibilities. The project examines transdisciplinary intersections between architecture, art, society, politics, and ecology, with a focus on the role of new visualisation and imaging processes in shaping spatial and architectural understanding. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s, Magister, or Diplom degree in Architecture from a recognised institution
- Strong knowledge of analogue and digital artistic design methods
- Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper, Blender, I-applications, laser scanning, and image processing
- Previous experience in teaching and research
- Good command of English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive skills in model making, digital fabrication, and prototyping
- Strong motivation for teaching, didactic skills, teamwork, and resilience
- Willingness to actively participate in conferences and academic events
