About the Fellowship

The PhD Research Fellowship in Sedimentology and Petrography at the University of Oslo offers an exciting opportunity for early-career geoscientists to contribute to cutting-edge research on alluvial fan sedimentology and architecture. This fully funded, three-year fellowship (with potential for a fourth year) involves field investigations, petrographic analysis, and integration of seismic and subsurface data to develop innovative concepts in catchment–alluvial fan dynamics. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in sedimentology, petrography, or related geoscience field
  • Foreign M.Sc. equivalent to four years in the Norwegian system
  • Fluent oral and written English
  • Internationally valid driver’s license and tourist visa eligibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Geological fieldwork experience in remote areas
  • Laboratory experience including petrographic analysis
  • Structural geology and seismic interpretation skills

Not Eligible:

  • Previous appointment to a PhD Research Fellowship at the University of Oslo
