Fully Funded PhD in Medieval Archaeology at University of Nottingham, UK
About the Program
This fully funded PhD studentship is a collaboration between the University of Nottingham and Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales, supported by the AHRC’s Collaborative Doctoral Partnership (CDP) scheme. The project explores maritime and cultural connections between South Wales and Atlantic Europe from 1000–1500 CE, a transformative era in medieval history. Drawing on recent archaeological discoveries and historical records, the research will analyze portable artefacts such as metalwork, coins, and ceramics to reconstruct a new narrative of international interaction.
The program offers hands-on research with national museum collections, cohort development events via the AHRC CDP scheme, and academic training through the University of Nottingham’s Researcher Academy. It is ideal for students passionate about medieval archaeology or history and interested in object-based research and museum collaboration.
