About the Program
The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Basel invites applications for a fully-funded PhD position in Palaeoecology and Palaeolimnology. This exciting project focuses on chironomid palaeoecology, using fossil remains of aquatic insects to reconstruct past lake ecosystems and environmental changes. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Prof. Dr. Oliver Heiri and the Geoecology research group to develop innovative methods and contribute to pioneering research on lake sediment analysis, environmental reconstructions, and ecosystem dynamics. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

- Research experience in palaeolimnology, palaeoecology, limnology, microfossil analysis, and/or sediment work
- Strong academic record
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Willingness to work in a team environment
