About the Program

Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour/University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour invites applications for a fully-funded PhD in Philology and Cultural Studies titled “Aljamiado Literature as a legacy of ‘in-between’ cultures within Medieval and Early Modern Spain” at the Centre des Études Doctorales. This doctoral position focuses on the study of Aragonese Mudéjar and Morisco communities and their rich literary heritage, addressing the preservation, classification, and digital analysis of Aljamiado texts. The project will be supervised under the CHORAL programme, aligned with the Cultural Heritage Outreach in Romance Languages research theme. The research duration is 3 years and is based in Pau, France, and Zaragoza, Spain, with an anticipated start in September 2026. Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Must not have resided or conducted main activity in France >12 months in the last 3 years
