About Position/Job
The CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) invites applications for a PhD thesis in Prehistoric Studies (Prehistory) and Digital Modelling titled “Gamification of a Multi-Agent Model Applied to Prehistory.” This doctoral project is hosted at the UMR HNHP – Natural History of Prehistoric Humanities in Tautavel, France and co-supervised by Prof. M.P. Cani at École Polytechnique, Palaiseau.
Funded by the ICCARE program under the national PEPR initiative, the project combines history, anthropology, environmental science, and computer science to explore prehistoric societies through innovative gamification methods. Using data from the Caune de l’Arago site (Lower Palaeolithic, 600,000–90,000 BP), the doctoral candidate will develop a video game prototype to virtually reconstruct complex prehistoric life scenarios. This interdisciplinary research bridges experimental archaeology, digital humanities, and cultural/creative industries, offering benefits for both researchers and public engagement.
