About the Programme
UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites applications for a PhD Fellow in Terrestrial Quaternary and Glacial Geology at the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Science and Technology. Supervised by Professor Anders Schomacker, this four-year, fully funded doctoral position aims to reconstruct the Late Quaternary glacial and environmental history of Svalbard using terrestrial geological data. The research contributes to the Sedimentary Systems, Paleoclimates and Environments Group, focusing on glaciation patterns, ice-sheet dynamics, and palaeoclimate reconstruction in the Arctic. The project involves fieldwork in Svalbard, geochronological analysis, and international collaboration with The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), offering a unique opportunity to study climate and geological evolution in one of the world’s most dynamic polar environments.
