Research Position (PhD) in Geography and Environmental Sciences at the University of Tübingen, Germany – Apply by 16 January 2026

About Position/Job

Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen invites applications for a Research Position (PhD, f/m/d, TV-L E13, 65%) at the Faculty of Science, Institute of Geography, Chair of Geoecology. This position is part of the DFG Priority Programme SPP 1374 “Biodiversity Exploratories”, one of Germany’s most established long-term research initiatives on biodiversity–ecosystem functioning.

The PhD project, titled “P-Niche: Parent material and land-use intensity as driver for niche complementarity in phosphorus mobilisation between plants and microbes”, is supervised by Prof. Dr Yvonne Oelmann. The research focuses on land-use and biodiversity effects on phosphorus cycling in soils, microorganisms, and plants, using biogeochemical, radioisotope, and wet-chemistry approaches. The position is fully funded for three years and offers an excellent interdisciplinary research environment with collaboration across leading German institutions, including Helmholtz Munich and TU Munich.
