About the Program
The PhD Position in Restoration of Riverine Grasslands at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam (UvA), offers an exciting opportunity to study how climate, soil, water, and management shape species-rich grasslands in riverine ecosystems. Supervised by Dr John Janssen (WUR) and Dr Annemieke Kooijman (UvA), this fully funded four-year doctoral programme explores ecological processes driving nature restoration across Dutch floodplains. The project contributes to European conservation goals and supports applied ecological management through collaboration with national conservation partners. Ideal for candidates passionate about vegetation ecology and sustainability, this PhD provides world-class research training, fieldwork experience, and professional growth within one of Europe’s leading environmental research institutions.
