About the Position
The University of Vienna invites applications for a fixed-term University Assistant Postdoc position in Art History within the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies. This position is based at the Institute of Art History, contributing to research and teaching in modern and contemporary art under the supervision of Prof. Dr Sebastian Egenhofer. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Art History (with a focus on modern or contemporary art)
- Excellent doctoral dissertation
- Strong teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Proven ability to publish in international, peer-reviewed academic venues
- English fluency and at least one additional foreign language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research specialisation in 20th and 21st-century art and exhibitions, especially post-1960s
- International academic profile with global perspective
- Demonstrated team collaboration and communication skills
- Experience in teaching within global or comparative frameworks
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research and maintain an active publication record
- Contribute to ongoing research projects in the Chair of Contemporary Art History
- Teach BA and MA courses in line with university guidelines
- Participate in academic quality assurance and departmental administrative duties
- Support collaborative academic activities and foster interdisciplinary dialogue
