About the Position
The Centre for the Study of Classical Architecture (CSCA) at the University of Cambridge invites applications for two full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in Classical Architecture and Architectural History. These fixed-term positions will run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2028 and offer an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to contribute to innovative research in architectural history and classical design traditions. Moreover, the roles allow scholars to engage with interdisciplinary perspectives that examine the historical development, cultural significance, and global influence of classical architecture.
The CSCA seeks applicants who can bring originality, rigorous scholarship, and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of classical architecture. Research proposals may explore architectural theories, historical development, materials, technologies, and cultural meanings associated with classical architectural traditions. Candidates from related fields such as architecture, architectural history, archaeology, art history, classics, design studies, geography, or heritage studies are strongly encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will participate actively in the academic life of the centre and the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art. This includes contributing to seminars, workshops, teaching activities, and international research collaborations. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- PhD in Architecture, Architectural History, or related field
- Strong academic background in Classical Architecture / Architectural History
- Demonstrated research experience in archival and fieldwork methods
- Proficiency in English for academic communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD, GIS, or other architectural analysis software
- Peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations
- Experience in international research collaboration
