The University of Oulu invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Remote Sensing for Ecosystem Monitoring as part of the interdisciplinary SAFIRE programme (Safeguarding Biodiversity through Interdisciplinary Research on Habitat Restoration). Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in remote sensing, geoinformatics, environmental science, geography, or related fields
- Expertise in satellite imagery analysis (e.g., Landsat, Sentinel)
- Proficiency in R or Python
- Understanding of terrestrial ecosystem functioning
- Strong publication record in relevant fields
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in transdisciplinary environmental research
- Familiarity with Google Earth Engine or similar platforms
- Background in collaborating with ecologists and interdisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct remote sensing-based analysis for long-term ecosystem monitoring
- Integrate satellite data with biodiversity field datasets (e.g., vegetation, eDNA)
- Collaborate across faculties in the SAFIRE programme
- Contribute to external funding applications
- Engage in publishing and scientific dissemination
