About the Fellowship
The Yale University Postdoctoral Associate in East Asian Studies offers exceptional early-career scholars an opportunity to advance their research and teaching within one of the world’s leading centres for regional studies. Hosted by the Council on East Asian Studies at Yale’s MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, this two-year fellowship encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research focused on China, Japan, and/or Korea. Fellows benefit from Yale’s vast academic resources, collaborative networks, and teaching experience at an Ivy League institution. The programme aims to cultivate the next generation of scholars contributing to the global understanding of East Asia through research excellence, publication preparation, and undergraduate teaching.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. awarded between 2023 and 15 June 2026 in any discipline related to East Asia
- Commitment to remain in residence for the full duration of the appointment
- Proven research capacity and teaching ability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated publication record or strong dissertation research
- Experience teaching or mentoring undergraduate students
- Interdisciplinary or transregional research experience
Not Eligible:
- Candidates without a completed or near-complete Ph.D. by the stated timeframe
