Postdoctoral Position in Climate, Wildfire, Forests and People at Aix-Marseille Université, France – Apply by 15 March 2026

About Position/Job

Aix-Marseille Université is offering a two-year Postdoctoral Researcher position in the ClimatFeux Project (Climate, Fires, Forests and Human Societies), funded by Amidex. Supervised by Dr. Peter Fulé, this role focuses on the relationships between climate change, wildfire regimes, forest ecosystems, and human land management across the Mediterranean region and through expanding partnerships in Africa. The project combines palaeoecology, dendrochronology, experimental ecology, GIS, and environmental modelling to understand long-term fire histories and develop sustainable ecosystem management strategies. The research aligns with the university’s strengths in environmental science and interdisciplinary climate research, offering a blend of fieldwork, laboratory analysis, statistical modelling, and international collaboration. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to globally relevant research on climate adaptation and wildfire risk reduction.
