About Position/Job
The Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy at the University of Exeter invites applications for two Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow positions in Climate Intervention Modelling. This role is to begin before the end of 2025 on a three-year fixed-term contract. These roles are fully funded by the Quadrature Climate Foundation and focus on modelling deliberate climate interventions, particularly solar radiation modification (SRM), to explore solutions to the climate crisis. One post will focus on high-resolution modelling of marine cloud and sky brightening, while the other will develop statistical emulators for stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) and related techniques. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in climate modelling (preferably UKESM1), with interest in aerosols, machine learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Successful applicants will work closely with colleagues at the University of Exeter and the Met Office Hadley Centre, producing high-impact research publications relevant to global climate policy.
