About Position/Job
The CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the dynamics in the Earth’s core at the ISTerre laboratory, Grenoble-Alpes University, France. Funded through the ESA 4D Earth Core+ consortium, the position starts January 2026 for a fixed term and focuses on creating a benchmark to recover snapshot and transient motions at the top of Earth’s core. The role involves numerical geodynamo simulations, inverse modeling, and geomagnetic data analysis using cutting-edge tools like pygeodyn, in collaboration with international partners in Paris, Copenhagen, and Leeds. The fellowship allows time for side collaborative research on related open topics. Ideal candidates hold a PhD in geophysics, applied mathematics, or related fields, with skills in numerical modeling, fluid mechanics, and code versioning.
