About the Position/Job
The University of St Andrews, School of English, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in History and Heritage to join the AHRC-funded project “Histories of Hope? Museum Redevelopment at Camp Nelson National Monument”, under the supervision of Dr Kristen Treen. This 14-month fixed-term fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research on African American Civil War history and its commemoration at Camp Nelson National Monument, Kentucky, USA. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing community-engaged museum exhibits, conducting outreach, and co-creating innovative approaches to heritage interpretation. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD (or near completion) in History, Art History, Archaeology, or Museums and Heritage Studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in U.S. history and culture, African American heritage, or museum/heritage practices.
- Experience in community-engaged research and/or public history.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original research for the Histories of Hope project.
- Plan and deliver sustained outreach activities with partners and stakeholders.
- Coordinate feedback mechanisms to evidence project impact.
- Produce research outputs including publications and dissemination materials.
