About Position/Job

A two-year postdoctoral fellowship is open in Aegean Middle Bronze Age lithics at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology, Polish Academy of Sciences (IAE PAS), Warsaw. The fellow will join the MITAMBA project, led by Dr Christopher Hale, exploring Middle Bronze Age networks and lithic assemblages across central and northern Greece and the northeastern Aegean. The position allows flexibility in research direction within the project scope and provides access to world-class facilities and analytical tools.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Archaeology (within the last 7 years)
  • Specialisation in Aegean Bronze Age lithics
  • Record of relevant publications
  • Skills in lithic analysis (macroscopic, petrographic, chemical, use-wear)
  • Strong English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Access to relevant assemblages
  • Experience with archaeological fieldwork in Greece
  • Familiarity with archaeological network analysis

Key Responsibilities

  • Comparative research on lithic assemblages (central/northern Greece, NE Aegean)
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic events
  • Collaborate on research design and integrate with MITAMBA team datasets
  • Participate in fieldwork and public outreach
  • Explore topics like provenance, imports, production, and use-wear
