About the Position
The Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) invites applications for three Postdoctoral Fellow positions in the project “Remote Sensing of Urban Climate, Ecosystem, Environment and GeoAI.” Supervised by Prof. Qihao Weng, these 12–36 month positions focus on advancing remote sensing, GIScience, and GeoAI applications to study urban systems, environmental processes, and climate interactions. The project integrates advanced data science, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analytics to support sustainable urban development and environmental monitoring. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to work in a leading interdisciplinary environment at one of Asia’s top universities.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Remote Sensing, GIScience, Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Geography, Urban Planning, Geoscience, or related fields
- Maximum five years of post-qualification experience
- Experience in algorithm development and refinement
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- At least two first-authored publications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong quantitative, statistical, and computational background
- Experience with AI and geospatial computer vision
- Advanced programming in Python and R
- Experience in cloud or high-performance computing
- Independent and collaborative research skills
- Proven publication record
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-level research in remote sensing, GeoAI, and environmental systems
- Develop and refine analytical and computational algorithms
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team on geospatial data modelling
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Support data processing and analysis using high-performance computing
