Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental Science & Climate Modelling at CNRS, France – Apply by 13 Oct 2025

About the Position

CNRS invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental Science & Climate Modelling at the Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefranche and Mercator Ocean, Toulouse. This two-year position focuses on ocean alkalinization, a marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR) approach enhancing ocean buffering capacity and CO₂ uptake. The fellow will integrate BGC-Argo float observations into the PISCES biogeochemical model, improving simulations of seasonal pCO₂ cycles and quantifying CO₂ fluxes attributable to alkalinization. The project spans global ocean bioprovinces, offering opportunities to work with international experts, publish in high-impact journals, and participate in conferences. Candidates will gain experience in biogeochemical modelling, data assimilation, and MRV frameworks, contributing to critical climate science and ocean carbon cycle research.

Position/Job Details

Research Area

  • Ocean alkalinization and marine carbon dioxide removal
  • Air-sea CO₂ fluxes and global biogeochemical cycles
  • Climate modelling and seasonal pCO₂ simulations
  • Data assimilation using BGC-Argo floats
