About the Position

University of Ljubljana invites applications for a fully funded Postdoctoral position in Medieval Geoarchaeology at the Department of Agronomy, Chair of Soil and Environmental Science, located in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This exciting academic opportunity focuses on medieval landscapes, stećci tombstones, and geoarchaeological site formation processes, contributing to international research initiatives in archaeology, soil science, and environmental history.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the ERC-funded STONE research project, while also conducting independent research using fieldwork, geoarchaeological sampling, and laboratory-based soil analyses. Applicants must hold a PhD in Archaeology, Geoarchaeology, or a related discipline and demonstrate strong experience in geoarchaeological methods and datasets. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track Postdoctoral position for 2 years, starting January 2027, offering competitive fully funded ERC support. Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Archaeology, Geoarchaeology, or related discipline
  • Experience in geoarchaeological sampling and fieldwork
