About the Position
The University of Tours is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for an exciting role in Historical and Cultural Source Analysis as part of the Horizon Europe project PlaceMUS XR, connecting music, heritage, and immersive technologies. Based within the Centre for Advanced Renaissance Studies (CESR) and its RicercarLab research programme in musicology, the researcher will contribute to designing and implementing cultural itineraries and sound museography studies. Working in collaboration with European partners, the postdoctoral researcher will engage in interdisciplinary research bridging musicology, digital humanities, and heritage studies. Research Area

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in History, Musicology, Cultural Studies, or a related field
- Excellent written and spoken English (C1/C2 level)
- Proven experience in interdisciplinary or collaborative research
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of digital heritage tools and data modelling
- Experience with European research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe)
- Familiarity with cultural mediation and museum innovation
Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate methodological frameworks for case studies and scenarios
- Collect, analyse, and structure heritage resources (archives, sound databases, iconography)
- Define metadata standards and contribute to corpus structuring
- Collaborate with VR/XR/UX design teams for immersive musical experiences
- Participate in user studies and analyse results
- Write scientific deliverables, reports, and publications
- Support dissemination and organisation of scientific events
