Two Postdoctoral Positions in History, Theory & Heritage – EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland | Apply by 2 March 2026

About the Position

EPFL invites applications for fully funded postdoctoral positions in History, Theory & Heritage at the Department of Architecture in Lausanne, Switzerland. These one-year positions explore the art, architecture, and cultural history of the early modern Mediterranean world, roughly 1000–1700. Fellows will engage in original research that contributes to ongoing scholarly debates, archival work, and the interpretation of historical spaces. The project is supervised by Cammy Brothers and linked to the Brothers Lab, providing a dynamic environment for creative and critical scholarship.

The fellowship offers a generous salary of 88,000 CHF per year, full benefits, and the chance to collaborate with international scholars. Candidates with training in art history, architectural studies, cultural heritage, or Mediterranean studies are encouraged to apply. Experience in textual or visual analysis, research methods, and scholarly writing will be particularly valuable. While French is not required, learning the language is supported and encouraged through EPFL courses.

This postdoctoral programme allows early-career researchers to publish, present at conferences, and develop an independent research profile in a globally recognised academic setting. Scholars interested in the intersections of art, architecture, and cultural theory will find this position especially rewarding.
