About Position/Job

Aarhus University (AU) invites applications for two 21-month postdoctoral positions in Intellectual History at the Department of History, School of Culture and Society, Faculty of Arts, Denmark. The positions are part of the research project “The Republic of Newsletters: International Republicanism in the Making of Democratic Political Cultures, 1815–1840”, and are funded from 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2028.

The research focuses on the intellectual history of republicanism in Latin America or Greece, examining how newspapers and periodicals shaped political thought during the Age of Revolutions. Researchers will explore the experiences of women, formerly enslaved people, and working-class communities, investigating international translation networks and cross-cultural exchanges. Applicants will collaborate with Associate Professor Nicolai von Eggers, conducting both digital and archival research, contributing to peer-reviewed publications, and participating in workshops and conferences.
