About Position/Job

Brown University invites applications for the International Humanities Postdoctoral Research Associate position with a focus on Premodern South Asia. This fully funded 2-year postdoctoral role, beginning July 2026, is jointly hosted by the Department of Classics and the Cogut Institute for the Humanities, with additional affiliation with the Center for Global Antiquity. The position is ideal for a scholar trained in any discipline exploring the history, literature, religion, or culture of South Asia before 1500 CE, with engagement in Sanskrit texts.

The successful candidate will teach one course per semester in the Sanskrit programme, potentially cross-listed in Religious Studies or other humanities departments. This post promotes innovative, comparative research and situates the study of Premodern South Asia in a global scholarly context, while participating in the Cogut Institute’s seminars and broader academic activities.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
