Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed doctoral degree in late Antique or early medieval history, medieval philology, or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of late Antique and early medieval European history
- Teaching experience in medieval history
- Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
- Very good Latin language skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies
- Teamworking ability and willingness to engage in departmental academic life
- Familiarity with university administrative processes
- International academic experience
- Fluency in German by the end of the second year (supported by the institution)
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting and completing a habilitation thesis, second book, or major research project
- Developing an independent research profile
- Publishing in high-quality academic outlets
- Organising academic events including conferences, symposia, and workshops
- Preparing and submitting research funding applications
- Teaching two courses per semester in Medieval History
- Supervising students and supporting academic progression
- Participating in departmental administration, quality assurance, and evaluation processes
