About Position/Job
The Postdoctoral Researcher in Palaeo-Population Genomics will join the Center for the Human Past at Uppsala University, working under the supervision of Mattias Jakobsson. This fully funded, two-year postdoctoral position focuses on ancient DNA and population genomics to explore human history over the last 10,000 years across Africa, Oceania, and Eurasia. The role combines archaeology, genetics, and linguistics to provide an interdisciplinary perspective on human evolution. The researcher will collaborate with an international team of postdoctoral fellows and PhD students, using cutting-edge computational and analytical methods. This position aligns with the Department of Organismal Biology’s goal to advance human evolutionary studies and offers a unique opportunity to work in a globally recognised research environment with access to extensive genomic and archaeological datasets.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Population Genetics, Bioinformatics, Archaeogenetics, or equivalent
- Proven experience with ancient DNA techniques and population genomic analysis
- Strong publication record demonstrating independent research quality
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Africa, Oceania, or Eurasia population studies
- Skills in mathematics, computational methods, and statistics
- Commitment to open science and data sharing
- Experience in international, interdisciplinary research projects
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research using palaeo-population genomic approaches
- Integrate genetic, archaeological, and linguistic datasets
- Perform computational and statistical analysis of ancient genomes
- Collaborate with international research teams
- Participate in seminars, workshops, and potentially teaching and supervision (up to 20%)
