About Position/Job
Emory University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for its Palaeolithic Technology Laboratory in the Department of Anthropology. This role provides an exciting opportunity to conduct independent and collaborative research on Palaeolithic lithic technology, behavioural analysis, and computational methods. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to the design, execution, and interpretation of research projects examining Stone Age artefacts, human technological behaviour, and cultural evolution, under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
This position is initially appointed for one year, with potential renewal based on performance and funding, allowing the fellow to develop research independence and professional expertise. The role is primarily on-campus at Emory University, Atlanta, USA, and may include opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and international research. The fellowship will involve fieldwork, experimental archaeology, and advanced statistical and computational analysis, aligning with the department’s mission to advance understanding of early human behaviour.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
- Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with colleagues
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in lithic and behavioural analysis
- Proficiency with statistical and computational research methods
- Demonstrated record of academic publications
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct research projects in the Palaeolithic Technology Laboratory
- Collect, analyse, and interpret lithic, behavioural, and computational data
- Develop and evaluate new research methods and experimental protocols
- Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals
- Prepare manuscripts for scientific publication and conference presentations.
- Train and supervise research personnel and operate specialised laboratory equipment
