About Position/Job
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. This one-year, temporary contractual position is part of the project titled “Modelling and Simulation Studies on Development of Laser Ablation Resistive Materials.” The postdoctoral researcher will engage in advanced multi-physics simulations using COMSOL and ABAQUS software to study laser ablation resistant materials. Under the supervision of Dr. Pritam Chakraborty, the candidate will contribute to developing user-element codes and perform coupled Navier-Stokes, heat transfer, and level set equation analyses. This role supports IIT Kanpur’s strategic research goals in aerospace materials and simulation, offering a unique opportunity to work on interdisciplinary computational methods critical for aerospace applications in India.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Aerospace Engineering
- Minimum 6 months’ relevant experience as a postdoctoral researcher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in COMSOL for multi-physics simulations of ablation
- Proficiency in ABAQUS for thermo-mechanical and heat transfer simulations
- Experience in developing user element codes
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct COMSOL-based multi-physics analyses involving coupled Navier-Stokes, heat transfer, and level set equations
- Develop user element based codes in ABAQUS
- Collaborate with the research team for project deliverables and reports
