About the Position
Uppsala University invites applications for two Postdoctoral Researcher positions at the Centre of Excellence for The World in the Viking Age (WIVA), hosted by the Department of Archaeology, Ancient History and Conservation. These two-year, full-time posts offer early-career researchers the opportunity to explore the global networks, interactions, and cultural exchanges of the Viking Age (c. 750–1050 CE). Under the leadership of Professor Neil Price and co-directors Docents Charlotte Hedenstierna-Jonson and John Ljungkvist, WIVA promotes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the Viking Age beyond Eurocentric narratives, connecting Scandinavia with Afro-Eurasian worlds along the Silk Roads. The fellows will develop independent research within WIVA’s thematic framework while contributing to teaching and collaboration within the department’s vibrant academic community.
