The Ross Lab in the Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy at the University of Chicago invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position specializing in Anatomy and Evolutionary Biomechanics. This unique role offers the opportunity to teach first-year medical students in the Human Body course at the Pritzker School of Medicine while contributing to cutting-edge research in evolutionary biomechanics. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant biological or anatomical science by start date
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching anatomy, ideally to medical students
  • Hands-on dissection-based instructional experience
  • Proven success in independent research
  • Experience in data collection and analysis (in vivo, morphometrics, computational modeling)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching in gross anatomy, histology, or medical imaging
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary research teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research in evolutionary biomechanics
  • Serve as Teaching Assistant for Human Body Course (gross anatomy, histology, imaging)
  • Teach and mentor first-year medical students in both lecture and lab settings
  • Collaborate with researchers in the Ross Lab and across the department
  • Publish research findings in high-impact journals
  • Participate in academic events, workshops, and departmental initiatives
