About Position/Job
University of Oxford, Department of Earth Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join a cutting-edge project on Volcano Seismology. The postholder will conduct a comprehensive retrospective analysis of volcanic seismicity across Costa Rica’s volcanic arc, employing deep learning techniques and modern seismological workflows. Reporting to Dr Sacha Lapins, the role involves processing multi-year continuous seismic datasets from Costa Rica’s National Seismological Network (RSN) to create enhanced earthquake catalogues. These datasets will illuminate volcanic, tectonic, and geothermal processes, inform future field deployments, and advance deep learning applications in seismology. This 24-month fixed-term post (starting February 2026) provides opportunities for independent research development, career growth, and preparation for future academic positions.
