About Position/Job
The CNRS – Centre de Recherche sur la Biodiversité et l’Environnement invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Ecology and Environment under the Alfawetlands project. This full-time, temporary position starts in January 2026 and focuses on understanding the functioning of temperate and boreal wetlands across Europe. The successful candidate will coordinate WP3 for the final year, contribute to a project-wide publication on ecosystem services, and process and interpret wetland soil data including enzymatic activity and greenhouse gas emissions. The role involves international collaboration, data analysis, scientific writing, and dissemination of results. Candidates will gain experience in project coordination, environmental science research, and European wetland management, while contributing to publications and scientific meetings. Fluency in English and a PhD in Environmental, Biological, or Geosciences fields are required.

Research Area
- Ecology and environment of temperate and boreal wetlands
- Ecosystem services assessment at European scale
- Greenhouse gas emissions measurement (e.g., Licor® trace gas analyzer)
- Microbiology and nitrogen/carbon cycles in wetland soils
- Data analysis, processing, and interpretation
- Scientific publications and project dissemination
Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, or Geosciences
- Knowledge of microbiology, nitrogen and carbon cycles
- Experience with greenhouse gas emission measurement systems
- Fluent English, able to write scientific publications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project coordination experience
- Experience working in international research teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Dissemination and reporting experience, including meetings and conferences
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate WP3 for the final year of the Alfawetlands project
- Contribute to a European-scale publication on wetland ecosystem services
- Process and analyse field data from ~10 wetlands across Europe
- Interpret enzymatic activities and greenhouse gas responses in soils
- Write scientific publications and present findings at meetings
