About Position/Job
The University of Oslo (UiO) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Physical Oceanography at the Department of Geosciences, Blindern campus, Oslo, Norway. This full-time, four-year fellowship provides a unique opportunity to pursue advanced research in ocean dynamics, meridional overturning circulation, Lagrangian measurements, and ocean-bathymetry interactions. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Physical Oceanography, Dynamical Meteorology, or Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
- Doctoral thesis submitted and publicly defended by the closing date
- Fluent oral and written English communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in dynamical analyses, turbulence, and nonlinear processes
- Strong mathematical and writing skills
- Interest in teaching and pedagogy
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research in physical oceanography using theoretical models, in situ data, and climate models
- Develop and contribute to collaborative projects with UiO and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute
- Participate in teaching activities for two courses, acquiring basic pedagogical competencies
- Submit a professional development plan to guide strategic career progression
- Collaborate within an international, interdisciplinary research environment
