About the Position
Universitat de Barcelona invites applications for a funded Postdoctoral Researcher position in Cultural Studies at the OPIR Department, located in Barcelona, Spain. This exciting academic opportunity focuses on conflicts over “truth”, conspiracy frameworks, and socio-political narratives, contributing to international research initiatives in social sciences and interdisciplinary humanities. Moreover, the project De-CRIPT explores misinformation, inequality, and evolving public discourse across Western Europe.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the De-CRIPT research group led by Dr. Cecilia Vergnano, while conducting independent research using digital ethnography and immersive offline fieldwork. Furthermore, access to strong academic networks and institutional support ensures a productive environment for high-impact publications. Applicants must hold a PhD in anthropology, sociology, political science, or related fields, and demonstrate strong ethnographic research experience. In addition, preferred skills include digital ethnography, analytical thinking, and familiarity with conspiracism, disinformation, and social movements. Strong communication skills, research independence, and interdisciplinary collaboration are also essential for success in this role.
This is a full-time postdoctoral position for 12 months, starting May 2026, with renewal possible until August 2030, offering a competitive salary package and funded research support.
