Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Geography & Social Sciences at University of Angers, France

About the Position

The University of Angers is inviting applications for a 22-month full-time postdoctoral position in geography, planning, sociology, or anthropology. The selected candidate will contribute to the HILAUSENIORS project (Intermediate Habitats – Housing – AUtonomy – SENIORS), an interdisciplinary research programme exploring how housing and the living environment impact autonomy in later life. This collaborative project is backed by a consortium of 12 academic institutions and 40 researchers spanning fields such as geriatrics, occupational therapy, epidemiology, and urban studies.

The fellow will be hosted at the Maison de la Recherche Germaine Tillion and may benefit from flexible telework arrangements. The role includes multi-day mobility for fieldwork across France. This position offers a stimulating opportunity to work at the intersection of social sciences and public health in ageing studies, within a leading European research network.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A PhD degree obtained within the last 3 years
  • Specialisation in geography, urban planning, sociology, or anthropology
  • Research experience in ageing, housing, or autonomy-related themes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary research projects
  • Strong communication and field research skills
  • Interest in mixed-methods research and qualitative analysis

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork and analysis related to housing and senior autonomy
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team across partner institutions
  • Contribute to surveys within the HILAUSENIORS project
  • Participate in dissemination of findings through publications and events
