About the Position
The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, part of the University of Cambridge, is seeking a capable and motivated Project Administrator to support the ambitious Mapping Archaeological Heritage in South Asia (MAHSA) project. Funded by the Arcadia Fund, MAHSA uses cutting-edge techniques including remote sensing, machine learning, and historical analysis to identify and protect endangered archaeological sites across Pakistan and northwest India.
The successful candidate will play a crucial administrative role in this international research collaboration, ensuring smooth communication with global stakeholders and supporting the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator. Ideal for individuals with strong organisational, communication, and financial administration skills, this is a chance to contribute to one of the region’s most significant archaeological documentation efforts.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- HND, HNC, or vocational qualification at level 4/5 (or equivalent professional experience)
- Proven experience in administration, especially financial support and reporting
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of project workflows and document management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating content for websites and/or social media
- Familiarity with project management platforms
- Experience in heritage, academic, or research institutions
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage project communications with international stakeholders
- Support the Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator in administration and reporting
- Assist in scheduling, documentation, and event logistics
- Help maintain digital project platforms, including website and social media (if applicable)
- Contribute to the smooth execution of field and documentation activities
- Ensure compliance with University procedures and funder requirements
