About Position/Job
The University of Oxford is inviting applications for Project Assistant roles within its world-renowned Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) division. Working across the Ashmolean Museum, History of Science Museum, Museum of Natural History, and Pitt Rivers Museum, this project supports the University’s major Collections Storage Strategy, which aims to relocate over 8.5 million objects into purpose-built facilities: the Collections, Teaching and Research Centre (CTRC) in Oxford and the Collections Storage Facility (CSF) in Swindon.
These posts play a crucial part in the GLAM Move Project, requiring hands-on work preparing, packing, freezing and transporting collections while ensuring accurate documentation. Under the leadership of Project Manager Rosie Hughes, this role offers the opportunity to directly support interdisciplinary museum practice, heritage preservation, and large-scale collection relocation across Oxfordshire. The project runs until 31 December 2026, making it ideal for candidates eager to contribute to one of the UK’s most significant museum storage transformation programs.
