About Position/Job

The University of Liverpool is inviting applications for a Registrar (0.5 FTE) within its Libraries, Museums and Galleries (LMG) division. This part-time role focuses on the management, care, and movement of cultural heritage collections across the University’s accredited venues, including the Victoria Gallery & Museum and Garstang Museum of Archaeology and Egyptology, as well as Special Collections and Archives. Reporting to the Head of Visitor Experience and Space Development, the Registrar will play a key role in exhibitions, loans, and acquisitions while ensuring collections are transported, stored, and displayed safely. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University’s 2024–2031 strategy, Reimagining Libraries, Museums and Galleries, supporting research, education, accessibility, and community engagement. Ideal for candidates with strong organisational skills, object handling expertise, and knowledge of collections care, database management, and recordkeeping.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in museum or gallery collections management
  • Knowledge of handling, packing, and transporting objects
  • Database management and recordkeeping experience
  • Attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Accredited Museums and Archives
  • Understanding of loans programmes and insurance procedures
  • Familiarity with public engagement or exhibition planning

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day movement of collection items in and out of repositories
  • Oversee transport, insurance, and documentation for loans
  • Collaborate with curators on acquisitions and exhibitions
  • Ensure adherence to collections care standards
  • Support projects to improve collections data and information systems
