Newcastle University is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Research Admin Officer to join its vibrant Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) research and finance team. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working to a high standard in a financial or administrative role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to understand, interpret, and explain policies and procedures
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Experience working with financial or numerical data
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to draw conclusions from financial data and explain them to non-experts
- Experience supporting research or academic projects
- Proven problem-solving skills and a flexible approach
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for research support services in the designated schools
- Advise academics on costing and planning research proposals
- Support the application process and set-up of research awards
- Provide financial management for research accounts, including budget monitoring and forecasting
- Oversee transactions, purchasing, and expenses to ensure compliance and accurate records
- Maintain effective administrative systems and update research project information on web platforms
- Support external and internal quality assurance processes
- Liaise with university services and external funders to resolve issues
