About the Position
The University of Oxford’s Faculty of Classics invites applications for a part-time Research Assistant to join an interdisciplinary project on the archaeology and urban heritage of cities in Türkiye affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes and wildfires. Based at the Ioannou Centre for Classical and Byzantine Studies, this four-year, fixed-term post (0.5 FTE) offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research that combines archaeology, architecture, and digital humanities. The successful candidate will support the project’s documentation, digital archiving, mapping, and heritage preservation efforts while participating in fieldwork and outreach activities. This role reflects Oxford’s commitment to urban resilience, cultural memory, and collaborative international research.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven research skills in archaeology, heritage studies, or related fields

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Turkish
- Experience in fieldwork or archaeological data collection
- Familiarity with heritage management or public outreach
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and organise archaeological and archival materials in English and Turkish
- Develop and maintain digital archives, GIS datasets, and project website
- Support fieldwork and post-excavation research activities
- Coordinate project meetings and communications
- Contribute to academic publications and public engagement outputs
