About Position/Job
Saarland University is inviting applications for an Academic Research Assistant (m/f/x) in Digital Humanities within the Department of Language Science and Technology in Saarbrücken, Germany. This full-time, four-year funded position (E13 TV-L) focuses on research and teaching in Digital Humanities, integrating humanities disciplines with machine learning, statistics, and Python-based computational methods. Working under the academic leadership of Professor Christian Bentz, the successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research aligned with the Faculty of Humanities, including Archaeology, Classical Philology, Historical Science, Linguistics, and Philosophy. The role also includes teaching four hours per week in the BA Digital Humanities programme and active participation in building BA and MA curricula. This position supports Saarland University’s mission to foster early-career researchers and strengthen innovative, cross-disciplinary humanities research in Germany.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Archaeology, Classical Philology, Historical Science, Linguistics, Philosophy, or a closely related humanities discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, statistics, and Python programming
- Strong publication record in relevant research areas
- English language proficiency at the C2 level
- German language proficiency at the C2 level, with the ability to teach in German
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in interdisciplinary Digital Humanities research projects
- Interest in curriculum development for BA and MA Digital Humanities programmes
- Active engagement in collaborative academic environments
Key Responsibilities
